"Staff and breakfasts excellent, and room price good value, but noise seems to be inevitable!!"

We enjoyed our stay at the Harcourt mainly because it is very convenient, good value and a lovely old building. The staff were all very friendly, especially the lady at the front desk, who was very accommodating when we asked for a room change due to the noise from the outside beer garden, which went on until 2:30 am. The offerings at breakfast were all tasty and plentiful. We were very grateful for their effort in returning clothing we had carelessly left behind.

Hotel facilities very good,Staff very friendly and good local knowledge. Morning Breakfast was excellent quality and good portion size. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to all my friends. Only 1 drawback walls are quite thin and a little noise from other guests

"Good Location but noisy"

We were disturbed by the noise of people leaving the Hotel`s Night Club in the early hours and even more so by the sound of the LUAS directly outside our window. Room large and comfortable but problems with housekeeping as they left us with no towels and it took 3 phone calls for them to arrive.

Stayed for a friday/saturday night visit. First night was in a shoddy room on the ground floor- impossible to sleep due to noise outside- moved to a nicer room on 4th floor for next night - had to go for a walk at 2.30am as noise from club was so intense. Spoiled a stay in Dublin.

The hotel staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The hotel was clean and a fantastic location. The night club meant there was lots of noise from the street from people using the night club and the taxis outside although this for us was not a problem and I would definitely choose to stay there again.

" stayed in room 3102 and coul not sleep ontil after 3.30am due to very lound music"

hotel, excellent, staff very polite and friendly, costs of drinks ok, early bird menu and standards brilliant; italian restaraunt adjacent brilliant price and food. The hotel should get someone to look at the window, it is possibly installed dry, or fit secondary glazing to this room

"Very central. Clean. Friendly staff"

We had read bad reviews of this hotel and were pleasantly surprised at how clean it was. Whilst it was noisy at the front ( which we expected given it is near so many bars and clubs),the earplugs were useful. One thing that was dissappointing was that the water was turned off overnight without warning, and we were not told about this in advance. Otherwise, the hotel is great value for money

Extremely good value for money, rooms were warm comfortable, really nice decor, clean and appreciated the coffee and tea making facilities, staff were friendly. Disappointed that there was no parking with the accommodation and that we would have had to park 10 mins away at St Stephens Green, would stay again if I did not have a car.

"Sleeping comes as non-optional extra"

Nice hotel and staff - dreadful location. The first time I stayed midweek (due to the convenience of the location in Harcourt Street) I had a room overlooking the street. The noise throughout the night was so bad that I requested a room at the rear for my next visit. That request was ignored but aparently it makes no difference because a club has an outside garden below those rooms. However, having arrived at 1 am, I couldn`t face the room change. But at 3 am the noise was phenominal. Four clubs turning out - singing, shouting and the cabs indulging in a horns war. This continued for what seemed like hours. So if you sleep lightly or want a peaceful night , book somewhere else well away from the Harcourt Hotel.

"Noisy noisy noisy , and not just from the tams. "

As long as you don`t mind the security staff shouting and laughing at one in the morning then dragging the metal crowd barriers away in the early hours then it`s fine. I had a room at the front of the hotel on the second floor. Wind whipped through the gaps in the window followed by all the noise from night club, staff, trams, public and to top it all a worn out extractor fan in the dirty bathroom- this was on a thursday night ! Ask for a room at the back if you mist stay here. I won`t be again.

Easy walking distance of the city, lovely staff and very comfortable. Ceasers the restaurant attached is a no go however found the waitress incredibly rude, snatched my menue, no offer of desert and far too eager to get us out the door.

"Would stay again"

I`d read a few negative reports about the hotel was a little worried but I have to say the reception welcome was great, room was clean and compact. It was exactly what we wanted and it didn`t break teh bank (when everything else cost wise in Dublin did - expensive city) Would stay here again. We stayed on a wed and Thurs so wasn`t as noisy as some guests suggested. Harcourt street is lovely too and good location.

"Very central with friendly staff, but very noisy. a back packers hotel in truth. would not recommend"

The hotel is far too noisy, with doors banging shut at all hours of the day/nite. The bar adjoining the hotel was full of youngsters intent on getting blind drunk until dawn...Bathroom was fine, but room quite unpleasant, with a disgusting looking blanket as part of the bedding. Room in dire need of a refurbish.. i would not stay there again and will advise ny friends to avoid

"Good value - will use again."

I was at the Harcourt overnight with no breakfast so my revieqw is based on little evidence. However, it appears to provide good value, clean accommodation and friendly staff. Well done. But there was a downside that has reduced my score from `Good` to `Average`; that was because my bedroom was at the front of the hotel and the noise from revellers on the street outside, who were spilling out of an adjoining club, went on until after 2am - and that was on a Thursday. Apparently it`s worse on a Friday and Saturday, so be warned.

The hotel itself was very good. Friendly and clean. The trouble we had was with the noise level from the nightclubs. (There is one under the hotel and another across the street) Even though we were extremely tired we were kept awake by the noise from the people outside , loads of people shouting and screaming , cars sounding their horns and numerous police sirens arriving to sort things out. We would recommend a rear facing room if you were to stay here at all.

The hotel was very friendly and clean and the rooms and service couldnt be faulted. However the nightclub in the basement didnt start until 11pm and closed at all hours of the morning. The noise when the club was closing and people started coming out onto the street in front of the hotel rooms was enough to wake us up on the 2 nights we stayed there. The noise continued one night until 5am! Harcourt Street has several nightclubs so there is quite a lot of noisy young people around.

Good location, clean and staff are politeThe Major Bad Point:-BE WARNED! The noise is so bad on Friday and Saturday night from the D/2 Night Club (located at Hotel) after closing is beyond shocking - you will not sleep between 3.00 am - 4.30 am (ref: 02/10/10) - shouting / police attendance / bad language and more...No one asks them to move on...Stephen Ford - UK 04/10/10

Hotel very good but continual talking, shouting and fighting between 11pm and 4am ruins any stay there. This noise is caused by a nightclub, which I think is owned or connected with the hotel. Suit people who want to party all night.

"Nice enough hotel however it was noisey until very late."

Hotel staff helpful enough however the music from the bar downstairs was very loud and kept you awake until 2-3am, ideal if your going for a clubbing break but if you`re going for a quiet break not the place to stay I`m afraid.
