Situated in a pleasant area of London, the hotel has very comfortable rooms and a lovely spa. This comes at a reasonable price for thefacilities involved.A wide range offood for breakfast and some lovely restaurants and shops around thearea. Very close to the tube station.
I never realised a hotel could make a cupboard into a room....but one learns something new every day! Additionally the structural work - which starts at 8am - was not made clear when we booked, and the "complimentary" use of the pool/leisure facility was already advertised as included anyway! Just not impressed with the experience overall.
The double room was small and tired decoration and the hotel was rather noisy. Drilling etc- I was warned on arrival that work would be 8-5 but actually it started before 8 and went on after five in the hallway by the room I stayed in. Staff were friendly enough and helpful but as a regular over night stayer in London it was definitely not great for the price of the hotel.
good location but looking very tired
Room tiny, shower good but part of shower curtain missing. Staff lovely. Would not recommend this hotel. May be better after rennovations finished.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and quiet - food was good - spa facilities and pool were good and spotlessly clean. Although the hotel is in the middle of a refurbishment programme it did not affect our enjoyment of the weekend - we will definitely use the hotel again
This is the first hotel that I have stayed in which imposed a charge on residents for use of the swimming pool. Secondly when advised about the cost of the breakfast, residents should be advised in advance that there is a service charge in addition to the cost of the breakfast, not when they are settling their account...
Would definately recommend this Hotel, only downside was all the work that is being done there which made it quite noisy sometimes!
Average hotel - somewhat dated and could do with some refurbishment (which is happening at the moment), Stayed 2 nights but room was not serviced on the second day until I asked for it to be done. Tried to bill me for bar purchases which we had not made. Apologised that they had got room numbers mixed up!
The hotel has undergone and still is substantial updating and refurbishment, however i am not sure this has really made it any better, it is an average hotel, don;t bother with breakfast we have had that before very disappointing, hotel is well located, bedrooms small and bathrooms compact
Disappointing, booked for myself and friends having stayed in other Kensington hotels before. Shoddy looking decor, patchy carpets, no fridge in room, TV didn`t work. Comfy bed and decent shower but how this hotel is rated 4 star is beyond me. Will not rebook for here when other local hotels are much superior.
We booked what we thought was twin room. On the website it looked like a double bed with a smaller single bed in a reasonably sized room. In fact it was very small double room with a camp bed put in it. We could hardly move and the camp bed was really uncomfortable.
Room extremely small, hotel decor dreary and depressing, restaurant reminiscent of my old school canteen and then doubling up as the bar! 1 toaster for 50, 000 people, I don`t think so! I could go on but life`s too short and there are so many other hotels.
Excellent location: quiet back street near restaurants, shops, Kensington High Street Tube. Single room small but well appointed - nice bathroom, good full length mirror, decent hairdryer, etc. Only complaint is that two nights running the night reception did not pick up the phone. One was an incoming call for me from a family member and once was when I called reception at 10.30pm. If there was an emergency this could be a REAL problem. Otherwise, excellent hotel.
Lovely clean hotel, very comforatble beds and pillows, lovely breakfast, super stay, thank you
not that impressed understand that the hotel undergoing refurbishment but no restaurant open except sports bar whichwas really quite tacky sorry but we would not recommend this hotel
This hotel was very close to the Kensington High st stop, and with a taxi rank outside the door, it was very accessable to whereever you needed to go. very good Thai restaurant just up the street. This hotel also has a leasure centre with pool. Renovations are going on at the moment, but unless you are planning to sleep all day in your room, this cause no inconvenience to us. We spent two nights there and slept very well in comfortable clean beds.
great location very close to the tube , but our room was so tiny and very dated the room safe was broken what do you do with passports etc the hotel its self looked notting like the web site , i really didnt think it was up to much i know there is work going on there but still not the star rating it stated
Good location, but room was small and tired looking, as was the hotel in general. Room rate was heavily discounted and included free use of the Spa, which represented reasonable value for money. Wouldn`t have wanted to spend much time in the hotel itself.
Because of the location of this hotel (close to work) I am prepared to book again but the food was bad. Chips been in the fryer twice and scampi nearly black. I have resorted to take in salads from Tesco. The room was freezing and I complained and they said they had changed it however when I complained to someone else another night she said there was a problem and moved me. Why didn`t this happen the first time. The bed in the room was up against a window too and I had to plug the cold from the window with pillows. The hotel needs a refurb and I can see that is being done. The staff were fine and I would like a long term booking but as the rooms are so tierd I would like a good rate and an executive room, when I asked at reception how much the rooms were she said 60 to 90 yet when I emailed for a good rate I only got 90 for 4 nights every week till the end of June.Still working on this.
At the discount `refurbishment rate` this is a brilliant choice. Locaton is fantastic, very close to publc transport everywhere across London. If your looking for a place to sleep in London is does not get better. However, you can see why they need to refurbish. More shabby than chic.
Certainly I would stay here again and am grateful for Hotel Direct`s help with the booking - the gentleman I dealt with was realyy efficient and friendly.
Room (169) clean, just about adequate, V V small. Bathroom small and toilet in V V cramped position so that virtually unusable by a person of heavy build. Small wardrobe, no storage space for luggage, only one chair and v small desk / table area.Hotel clean, reception okay, staff friendly & helpful English breakfast excellent
I was unaware that the hotel was under renovation. The hotel staff did everything they could to make their guests feel comfortable as a result. Room for immediate improvement includes replacing ALL hairdryers with regular hairdryers; replacing all televisions with flat screens and making the changing of channels less cumbersome.
They add an extra 50 lb. a night to your bill for expenses you haven`t even occurred yet! And there rooms are extremely small.
Heating was not working an had to request an additional portable heater. Not happy with the car park situation as the attender did not specify why keys had to be taken from me, then my car was moved without permission. Also the hotel did not look anything like it does on the website
the staff were so friendly and we very helpful when my reservation had not been put through properly due to the travel agent. Was always greeted with a friendly manner. rooms were cleaned immaculate everyday beds were very comfortable and inhouse food was delicious. my stay her was enjoyed very much.
We booked a twin room for one night and thank goodness as we may have gone stir crazy with the size of the room for any longer. Although it had two beds, they were in a double bed alcove and could not be separated. Our room was at the back of the hotel, where they are extending! The view was of that new extension without walls- and a cement slab across the window so we couldn`t escape down the new stairs! All that said, check in and out was smooth and the room/public areas were clean and tidy. Not 4 star though.
Is looking very tired, but staff are very pleasant and helpful
Good value at less than £100.00 for a saturday night.Good location next to the tube station.Comfy bed.Nice friendly & efficient staff. Quick check in & out.
Most factors were fine. In fact, in most cases and any other time I might have had a pleasant stay. This time, however, we were put in two rooms in an area of the hotel where they were doing Refurbishment in rooms nearby. All day when we arrived, and from 8am the next morning, an excrutiating drilling noise pounded through the corridor. Apparently the hotel staff are not privy to the whereabouts of the constructtion work in their own hotel!!! One of my party was an 8 month pregnant lady, I expected more consideration, considering I informed the hotel of this months prior to arrival! Will not be staying there again.
Visit London on a regular basis and my usual accommodation was flly booked so iI was pleased to try a new venue. On arrival (approx 1.45) there were no rooms ready which I totally understood. Asked to wait 15 minutes which I did but there was no follow up after 30 minutes I approached Check-in again and room was ready. There was no hot water in sink tap or shower. Went down to reception to be told there was a problem with the boiler, I asked why I had not been told this when checking in. Offered complimentary breakfast which I did not avail of. The water returned in bath but sink hot tap did not work at all throughout my stay. Was not at any time told that building works were being carried outside room window which is o.k. during working hours if you know about it but to suddenly hear voices and drilling outside your window is offputting. The location of the hotel is superb and room lovely just felt uninformed.
