5Star treatment. Down side no parking within hotel nearest is 5min drive. Rooms are extravagant and posh but smaller than expected.
Lovely hotel, really enjoyed our stay. As ever, it`s the service and staff that make all the difference to a stay. we have no complaints and will certainly stay again
This was a good hotel experience, the room was trendy and comfortable and very spacious. The only problem was the sound of the air conditioning from outside, although it went off around midnight it came back on at 5.00am and woke me up. I would have preferred a quiet room with a view. I did notify the reception who did offer to move us, but said it would go off, so we stayed, but did not say it came back on at 5.00am!
I am a relatively seasoned visitor to London and felt that our stay at the Royal Horseguards was absolutely the best one ever. Though I booked a queen bed room through Hotel Direct we asked for and received an upgrade upon check-in - to a room with a view of the Thames and a king sized bed. The extra charge was minimal (especially considering the expansive and luxurious feel it provided), the room was quiet, spacious, tastefully furnished and overlooked the wonderful front gardens and river embankment. Food was excellent, service was thorough and sincere. Great building that preserved its history in a stunning location. Amazing refurnishing - infrastructure, technology, amenities and design.
Beautiful hotel - near all the exciting places you would want to see - clean and very comfortable. Breakfast in very nearby Victoria embankment gardens better value and if the weather is nice cannot be beaten. We would definitely stay again.
Located within easy walking distance of many of the main sights & attractions e.g. Trafalgar Square, Houses of Parliament, the South Bank. Near to Charing Cross and Embankment stations (2-5min walk). Magnificent, opulent imperial facade that faces the Thames. Service is good, polite and attentive. Rooms large and well sound-insulated from other rooms; nevertheless, `London noise` can penetrate from outside. Room rate was good value, though suspect this was heavily discounted via HD. Other aspects poor value: breakfast was average fare, with as much as you like to eat but steeply priced (suggest combine as lunch). Bar was extortionately over-priced.
Really freindly and attentive .
We had a thouroughly luxurious experience and one that we will not forget. Thank you one and all for making us feel so special.
Great hotel, staff very attentive and rooms clean spacious and well equipped
This hotel is extremely comfortable and has a great location. Although we were in quite a small garret room, it was very luxurious and I loved the luxurious touches like TV in bathroom, towelling robe, elemis toiletries, big fluffy duvet, big fluffy towels, and even a complimentary umbrella to use. My only comment would be the breakfast although really nice was eye wateringly expensive and really if it was going to be that pricey I`d expect high quality lattes, really fresh produce and not to have raw boiled egg served up. BUT it was perfectly fine and filling and as we were only there for one night, not a problem. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious stay in Central london, overall worth the money!
We always stay here when we can."Unfortunately" for us there was a wedding on and despite being on a high floor we had a poor nights rest until the early hour of the morning due to the "boom boom" of (presumably) the disco. We are not professional whingers so we accept that we were just a little unlucky ,but hopefully the wedding party had a good time !That said we really like the hotel which is conveniently located for our purposes. The staff are really pleasant. The room we had was the smallest that we have had on our visits, but they are really clean and stylish.I would still highly recommend it though.
Lovely building, great location, very friendly+helpfull staff
Very good all round - great rooms, fabulous service and a wonderful old building, right in the heart of town. The only downside - and this is a minor point - the hotel boasts a lovely piano bar however, on a busy saturday night - no pianist and no real atmosphere in the bar. I almost had a tinkle myself but decided better of it. By the way, ever wanted to watch TV but know that you need to jump in the shower? Pas de problem - a flat screen TV built in to the shower! Nice touch!
Still a lovely place to stay, only for the rich though.£8.75 for a bacardi and coke in the bar at 11.30pm. probably a double. Breakfast excellent, great service. Room lovely.Would stay again. Sayoy at £350 a night was totally full.
A fabulous hotel, very clean with excellent staff. If you are given a room at the front opposite the building work, ask to be moved as they work all through the night and the noise is terrible!
Booked for wednesday, they booked me for thursday.. Absolutely no attemp to help me. No refund, no calls, no emails, no appologies.Waste of 250 pounds, and they had the cheak to try and rent the room out again. The whole stay set me back a fortune, another hotel 270.
Good Hotel, central for sightseeing. Good quiet room, dining needs some serious attention. Ordered poached eggs at breakfast waited 30 minutes! Had to ask 3 different people before they eventually arrived.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Excellent service, comfortable room, good food and bar. A most relaxing place to stay.
Location is superb - staff very helpful and polite. However it would depend upon the premium for a larger room before I would stay again.
All good well worth the money spent, great location for central London.
The staff were really attentive and we couldn`t have wished for a more luxurious hotel - we loved the TV in the bathroom. Couldn`t be closer to a tube station if it tried, and so well placed for London attractions. Would stay there again in an instant.
1. I have been charged twice for breakfast once by Hotel Direct and once by hotel, please advise2. Guest bill is confusing drinks are labelled as food??3. lack of disabled access4. lift area to congested5. restuarant to humid6. Value for money rating 3/10
very impressed by quality of hotel. Staff very helpful and room wonderful.
A nice above average Hotel with very good facilites, very good position for Covent Garden area, nightlife and restaurants. Only comment lots of large building work going on to ajoining premises.
Rooms clean and bright with good standard of decor - bed very comfortable. Bathroom of good standard, however the lighting for make-up was very poor and there was no shower cap. Full breakfast was good but spoilt by providing cold plates.
I would have no hesitation in comming back to the hotel and would certainly recommend it to anyone
Our second visit this year. Hotel is wonderfully located for easy walking access everywhere! Staff are helpful, very polite and look happy. Beautiful room (no view, but who needs one?) Had a great time.
Otherwise a really lovely hotel
Arrived at Royal Horseguards to hear from the reception that I`d been upgraded!Fantastic, I hear you say.Not really, the only reason they upgrade to these rooms is due to the fact there is no, and I really mean no view. The window looks out onto the internal service area. So, if you are offered an upgrade, be careful, sometimes all that glitters is not gold!Otherwise it was ok.
Me and my wife stayed at the horseguards for 2 nights over the weekend, and our aim was to stay in a top notch hotel which was close to all of the main attractions London had to offer. We were not dissappointed! The horseguards was within a stones throw from the millenium bridge, the houses of parliment as well as giving great views of the London eye and county hall. We were also within a 10 minute walk of Chinatown and trafalger square. The hotel itself was traditionally majestic, looking like a chateau of the highest quality, but also providing those extra modern facilities, such as bathroom tv, under floor heating and bathrobes, slippers, plasma with freeview etc. I would definately recommend this hotel to a friend or family member.
