The hotel was superb. The staff were all friendly and made us feel really welcome. There was everything you could mention for breakfast and the staff waited on you hand and foot.
I really liked the hotel particulalrly the lounge etc. However I would like to have seen tea and coffee making facilities in the room and also bath robes and slippers, just the extra touches.
room a bit small but clean, breakfast was nice. No tea/coffee facilities in room but was supplied when requested.
Had such a fantastic stay at this hotel. Staff so helpful at all times.Walking distance to shops underground and nightlife. Will be back for longer next time. Anne Byrne
We enjoyed our stay and have no complaints about the hotel. However we were extremely dissapointed that haven chosen this hotel at what appeared to be a favourable rate through your on line booking (2 nights B&B for a double room £336) to then receive a copy of the hotel bill for just £254!!. Not sure how you can claim to offer best rates and we will probably book direct with the hotel in future. Also given your pledge to beat or match the price in your disclaimer we feel we were well and truely over charged. We have used you many times in the past so it is surprising just how much more we were charged by you compared to the Hotels price.
The overall appearance was ok, however the room was very average, I have stayed in better 3* accommodation than this. The room was freezing cold with no heating. The bathroom was in desperate need of decoration with mould around the shower and peeling paint. There were no tea or coffee making facilities so ended up buying a travel kettle. Would not recommend as a top of the range hotel.
Booked a few months ago but when we arrived, to have 2 twin rooms together we had to go on the smoking floor. Also the english breakfast was tastless but plenty of other choices of lovely breakfast food. The staff were friendly and polite and the rooms clean with very comfortable beds. The hotel very central to theatres and the sites.
The main hotel was lovely unfortunately the room that we had was not what we expected, we traveled down to London from Scotland to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The room was tiny I am sure travel lodge rooms are bigger. the tiles on the bathroom floor were cracked and when we got into the room there was no heating it was cold, we did speak to the mangement at the time put were told there were no other rooms, all in all very dissappointing the room could not be described as luxury. l would not recommend this hotel to anyone
We had a lovely time, used our hotel primarily for Bed & Breakfast as we spent most of the day out sight seeing. Beautiful old building and it is located in a very nice part of town. Our son was disappointed by size of room and given his bed was a fold up bed, it did leave our room smaller again. We did explain to him, old buildings/hotels, small rooms don`t really cater for more than two persons as like new build hotels.
When I booked this hotel, for 2 nights for £439, I thought I would still get a good quality room and position. However, the first room they gave me was overlooking a wall from the window, the bathroom was awfull, and room decor very very dated. They did change the room after I requested so. It was a brighter room but still very very dated. The breakfast was so average, oily bacon, unedable sausages and all round poor for 5 star!!!!!!! Not impressed and wouldn`t recommend it to anyone until it gets a face lift and a quality check.
Sold on line as a luxury 5* hotel who do not want to be named because of the low price offered on line! this is a joke as the room was sub-standard, very small and poky with a view to the rear although Green xxxxx to the front aspect. The hotel was not full so why not place your guests in a decent room on the off chance that they may return. No such luck and the last time I book a hotel on line unless I know the hotel and the type of room I am getting
The room ( no. 306) that we stayed in was so tiny that the heater was blocked by a sofa and the desk was blocked by another desk. Though the location of the hotel is very good and the restaurant is also good; it is definitely not worthwhile staying here.
As we stayed here on a special deal the room we were in was at the rear of the building and did not have a view, it was a dark room and we would not have liked to have spent a great deal of time in it but as this was London we were out and about all day so not a major problem. Beds were comfortable and breakfast was excellent.
In order to provide a good flow of hot water to the shower I opened up the hot tap more than I had when running water into the bath without realising that when switching back to release the water into the bath the temperature was so hot it was scalding. This situation needs urgent review.
Good room. Comfortable bed. Great breakfast. Good service. Classy old time style
General hotel building very nice, staff very friendly and helpfull. Into the room bit of a let down standard hotel room nothing fancy not 5*. Sheets lovely and white lining, fresh towels very clean but lets face it when you go 5* you expect that little bit more a bit of sxxxxxle, carpet would need replaced or shampooed. Bathroom OK clean again just not 5*. Took a hidden gem deal so knew I wasn`t heading for the penthouse but thought I`d at least get the whaow factor. Location amazing just across the xxxxx for Lizzy and the family walking distants to most places and tube about 500 yards away. Tesco`s express not to far either so don`t worry about the expencive drink prices. It`s hard to bet the tins of Carlsberg!!! Lovely little eating spot just round the corner Prezo on Down Street lovley grub and not to hard to pay went twice. Tasty grub in the Citrus restruant as well. To give it to you in laymans terms I`ve seen worse and stayed in better.
Good traditional hotel centrally located
We had a slight hiccup when the third bed was not present or made up on arrival but the hotel soon sorted this out. All staff were very polite and courteous. We were upgraded to a full english breakfast for all three of us (instead of continental for just two of us) without even asking! The breakfast was delicious and the choice was great. The beds were comfortable as was the bath, In all a very enjoyable stay.
My husband and I took a gamble booking this hotel as some of the reviews were not so good .I have to say yes in places the hotel was a little tired but what it may have lacked in shiny glamour it more than made up for in charm. The staff were superb and haveing stayed at the hotel for three nights I became quite fond of it,The location was fantastic and we would both definately visit again.
staff were pleasant enough but there are better 5 star`s in London
Very friendly staff but booking in took about thirty minutes due to the "system" losing my reservation.
Hotel staff very friendly. Not sure whether I would stay there again when looking at value for money I have had better room and facitlites in some 4* London hotels.
Staff is not very friendly and its way too expensive for what it has to offer, if you are staying in a five star hotel, choose something else. Wouldn`t recommend it.
the reception and bar area reflect the standard of the hotel. However the bedroom is ok but the bathroom was that of a 2 to 3 star hotel must be a least 30 years old, for the price you could get a much better hotel in london.
First room no bigger than a single and the bed mattress collapsed in the middle. To get both occupants in the bed one had to climb over the other and when a complaint was made the reception said they would send someone to check as if we were not believed.
The hotel is obviously renowned for it`s grandeur look and the central atrium is suitably stylish. Our room had a similar styling but did give the appearance of looking dated. However, this did not affect the enjoyment of our stay too much.Nothing was too much trouble for the hotel staff, our extra bed was not in the room. It arrived before I could return from the reception area. A special mention goes to the room service, 3 meals were ordered and arrived inside 20 minutes and was reasonably priced. It was a good 30% cheaper than a similar meal at the Disneyland Hotel in Paris.Overall a very pleasant stay in a hotel that was situated perfectly for both the West End and Covent Garden in one direction and Knightsbridge in the other (If you wish to shop like my wife). If you like your accommodation a bit more modern, you may wish to think again though.
The hotel was clean and the room pleasant although the bathroom was a little cramped. Our only quibble was that there were no tea making facilities in the room - these could be provided by room service. The staff were friendly and helpful and service in the restaurant was reasonably efficient.
Having read reviews on other sites I was worried about what our stay would be like, having read some bad reviews it was better than expected. Biggest disappointment, no tea & coffee making facilites in the room, we took our own kettle. Would rate it more as a 3/4 star hotel generally.
My wife and my son and his girlfriend had an excellent pre-Christmas break at this 5 star hotel. It is ideally situated close to Hyde xxxxx where there was a winter wonderland event and close to the shops in Regent street and the theatres. The staff were very attentive and we enjoyed one of their famous afternoon teas. Would highly recommend this hotel
