Flights into Glasgow Airport are served by the Citylink bus service. Route 905 leaves every 15 minutes into central Glasgow.

Tipping:
10-15% is normal in cabs and restaurants (where a service charge is usually included in your bill).

The Glasgow Science Centre is a major science and technology museum located in Glasgow. The science mall building contains the Scottish Power planetarium a climate change theatre, as well as three floors of interactive exhibits. Visitors can also participate in interactive workshops, live science shows and watch live star-shows. The science mall also has numerous theatres and spaces available for hosting events and presentations. Within the complex there is an IMAX cinema, and the Glasgow Tower, the highest structure in the world capable of rotating 360° from its foundations and the tallest free-standing structure in Scotland.

Designed in 1901 by Charles Rennie Mackintosh for a competition set by a German design magazine the property was opened to the public in 1996. The Glasgow School of Art is the starting point for the Mackintosh Trail of the work of architect, designer and artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh.The popular Mackintosh Trail gives the visitor free transport and unlimited access to the works of the late, great Glaswegian. Highlights of the trail include Sauchiehall Street, the Glasgow Style Room in the McLellan Galleries, which sets Mackintosh`s work against the context of his peers in turn-of-the-century Glasgow and the Willow Tea Rooms; the exterior and interior of Hill House in Helensburgh; the Mackintosh House; the Scotland Street School Museum and the Queens` Cross Church, the only church to be completely designed by Mackintosh.

The gardens now welcome some 400,000 visitors a year. The Kibble Palace - a Grade I-listed building - is now a place for giant ferns and tropical plants, as well as marble statues by Scipio Todalini. The other Victorian glasshouses contain a large collection of tropical orchids and begonias. A large tree and shrub collection includes a 200-year-old Weeping Ash, a large Monarch Birch, a large black oak and several beech trees. Innovations include the establishment of a World Rose Garden, added in 2002. The original eight-acre site in 1817 was the brainchild of Thomas Hopkirk of Dalbeth, who provided his own plant collection to set the seed. The present site in Kelvinside was purchased in 1842, and in 1873 the Kibble Palace - one of the country`s largest glasshouses - was moved from Coulport on Loch Long to the gardens, where it hosted concerts and speakers including both Disraeli and Gladstone.

First launched in 1947, The Waverley sails from Glasgow Science Centre down the Clyde coast. One of the world`s last sea-going paddle steamers, she continues to take passengers at stately pace as far as the Isle of Arran. Sailings June-August daily from 10am.

The Hunterian Museum is Scotland`s oldest museum. Its collections include Asante weights from Nigeria, coins, tokens and medals from Incan to Greek, Roman, Renaissance and Scottish sources, rare Scottish dinosaur fossils from Skye and collections of Egyptian and Roman antiquities. This museum does not charge an entrance fee and is open Monday to Saturday 3.30am-5pm, but is closed during the public holidays

The Lighthouse is Scotland`s first national centre dedicated to architecture and design. Former newspaper offices, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, have six floors of gallery space where today`s architects display visions for our cities. Visit the top-floor Doocot for a post-exhibition snack.
