Great welcome and great service all round. Stylish, comfortable accommodation. The bathroom wasn`t as stylish as the room and had had a half hearted make-over making it seem out if place but it was spotlessly clean as was the room. The beds were comfortable and with its location opposite Conolly Station, it was the ideal place for us as we had an early train to catch. The service in the hotel restaurant/ grill was friendly without being intrusive and the food was delicious and excellent value. We even enjoyed a complimentary class of Prosecco. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would certainly stay again!
First room we were offered was large with separate sitting area. We had to request a change as it was uncomfortably hot. No air conditioning and a large hot air duct outside the window. Also very close to trains above room level. Moved to ground floor room which was cooler, smaller and had view of backroad through thick metal bars. Heavy fence presumably for security but I felt uneasy if an exit was needed. Had to go up a floor, across and then down again to reach room. Food was good at breakfast. Room clean but dark.
Room was spotless and breakfast was great, only problem was room was at front of hotel oposite connolly street station which meant it was very very noisy and the room was also extremely warm, had to open window to try and let the air in but due to volume of traffic this made it hard to have a conversation or hear the tv
Stayed here for 3 nights as a couple in a Classic double room. Was very impressed with hotel as a whole, very clean and welcoming. Room was also clean and spacious. Breakfast was included with our booking - can`t fault it unless you are picky about your food. Area wasn`t the best but we did not go to hang around there. Overall a decent hotel, would return.
Friendly staff, ideally located to visit the heart of Dublin. Nice room (upgrade) but with a flaw (seems noisy machinery room of some sort adjactent to our room 752).
NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. THE FOOD WAS GOOD, WOULD GO BACK JUST FOR THE FOOD ALONE. FRIENDLY STAFF MADE OUR STAY ENJOYABLE.
Though the hotel was extremely busy at the time of our arrival, we were dealt with efficiently and courteously by the very friendly staff. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and surprisingly quiet at night allowing us to enjoy a good night`s sleep. Our only complaint was that the music played in the dining room seemed to be for the benefit of the staff rather than the diners. It was loud and intrusive making conversation very difficult. The group at the next table made a similar observation. We would definitely return to this hotel but would probably choose not to eat in its restaurant next time.
Very good hotel caters for business and leisure whilst specialising but largely avoiding any conflicts. The only minor issue was that getting seated quickly at breakfast was patchy, sometimes guests had a few minutes wait to seated. I was lucky to get straight in. The hotel is in an area that has benefited from regeneration although you do get the impression it stalled with the recession - there are still more opportunities nearby. So whilst there are other facilities in easy reach of the hotel a short taxi ride across the Liffey will give you more variety. That said the food and service in the hotel are a good enough reasons to save the fare if you`re on a short trip. If you are on a longer trip you may want a more variety after a couple of nights. If the rating was solely on value for money I`d have rated it as excellent, I was delighted with that, it`s only the hiccup with breakfast seating and the unfinished project on the external environment that just tipped it down to good.
Good location. Excellent food and customer service. Nothing too much trouble
The staff were lovely, it`s in a great spot and the room was ok. Some repair work not yet finished but the main thing was the paper thin walls! We were on the ground floor so we had the street sounds as an issue for a start but every group that got off the elevator managed to wake us up!
Rooms decor classic ,located maybe a little dangerous at night but we had no problems.staff friendly and helpful.l would return.
lovely hotel great staff will definitely be back
We stayed at the Northstar from 13 to 15 March 2014 and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Food was excellent and my partner and I also had the Saunas to ourselves. We managed to chat across the wooden walls as the Saunas were left for our own exclusive use !! For our next visit to Dublin we will stay at the centrally located Northstar - definitely will become our home from home . Thank you to all the helpful and great staff at Northstar Hotel. ChrissyRaj
Me and my partner had a lovely stay here for 2 nights. It was my partners birthday and the staff had put birthday balloons in our room which was lovely. Room was very nice and staff we great. Would definitely stay here again.
All staff very attentive. Very, very clean. Excellent
We enjoyed our stay immensely. Everyone was most helpful. It was very convenient to Connolly Street Railway station and the city centre. Ideal for a city break.
great hotel with free wifi. very good breakfast with good quality sausages and bacon. buffet style which is great value when included in price. never used gym but looked ok. bar and restaurant quiet but food and service excellent. The hotel is just across from train station. really convient for o`connell st. definitely get a room on higher floor as lower floors may hear train rumble by. I was in 4 floor so wasnt an issue. would highly recommend and would stay again.
Can`t fault the hotel , it was great BUT if you book it with HoteDirect you will have the pleasure of watching other guests eat a lovely breakfast while you go without !! We could have booked with the hotel itself for just £20 extra and eaten in the mornings !! Nice one HotelsDirect ! What about making your website clearer ?
Temperature a bit hot, particularly in breakfast room. Good cooked breakfast but not much on the pastry front. Room good standard.
hotel was beautifully decorated, receptionist and staff very helpful and accomodating, bar area spacious and chic, rooms clean, comfortable and bed so so comfortable, bathrooms very clean although shower was a bit dated and a nuisance to set right. overall our stay was enjoyable my only regret is i didnt stay longer.
Beautiful place to eat and rest.wonderful and hardworking team.affordable prices!.
Lovely hotel with very friendly staff however our room faced onto a back street which was a haven for people coming out of bars therefore very noisy.
We had a fantastic stay, we had a basic room even that was of high standard, breakfast was lovely too! Thank you :)
The moment you walk in you instantly know the hotel as had a lovely refurbishment as the decor is wonderfull. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is excellent with a huge variety of foods to cater for all needs. A top hotel, well done to all the staff. Keep up the good work.
Hotel was busy at breakfast. Table availability a little poor. Tables not cleared fast enough. Hotel clean and tidy. Room clean and comfortable. Shower very poor. Restaurant food very good.
I have given this rating because it is very good value for money
No problems encountered lovely place to stay and conveniently situated:-)
No complications, no problems. Friendly service. Nice and comfortable hotel.
We are a mixed group of friends in the 50-65 age bracket. We enjoyed our stay in the North Star which is very handy for Connolly Station, the Luas (tram) and also O`Connell Street. The beds were comfortable, clean and the room décor was good. The facilities within the hotel are excellent although we did not make use of the gym or the sauna. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and we would stay there again.
