My husband and I have stayed at The George twice before and have always really enjoyed our stay. The staff are very friendly, the cleanliness of the hotel and rooms are immaculate and the breakfasts are well worth the money. We will definitely stay again and we have recommended the hotel to friends and family. :)

Would stay again but would require a different room where heating was less noisy.

Stayed for one night for my girlfriends birthday and had a fantastic night. Room was large and bed was very comfortable. Went out for a meal then after visited the bar in the hotel which was very good with a great atmosphere, great drinks and good prices as well. Had breakfast the next day and really enjoyed it and left full and satisfied. Overall a fantastic stay and made my girlfriends birthday

We had a fabulous stay, our room wasn`t quite ready on arrival and we were given complimentary glass of champagne. The room was a good size and pleasantly decorated with a nice comfy bed. The only negative I would give is the corridors to the rooms are in need of some TLC, they do not represent the quality of the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was lovely, I particularly liked the fresh cooked pancakes.

The hotel was lovely but we had dinner in the tempus bar which was slightly disappointing as the first bottle of wine wasn`t chilled well so we had to ask for ice cubes to cool it down and we ordered 1 starter and then 5 main courses to follow but everything came at once so 2 main courses were taken away till we had eaten the starter and the 2 prawn garlic And chilli salads were very basic with not a lot of prawns in content .

Room very comfortable, clean, well decorated, soft comfortable beds, (duvets a little too high tog for this summer)! Would like shower caps included with bathroom toiletries. Only problem we had was the door to the stairs, (next to our room) which banged loudly - the slow closer needs attention. Coffee in the bar was somewhat spoiled by the extremely loud music which meant we could not carry on a conversation with our friends from Australia whom we had not seen for four years.

Good location, nice rooms and helpful friendly staff. Would definitely stay at the George again

We had a very enjoyable stay at The George lovely upgraded room and the strawberries,chocolates and glass of champagne made it extra special. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Polite and helpful staff. Spacious room with large comfy bed.

The room was quite small and the bed was a tight fit for my wife and I. The food overall was nice however some of the items on the breakfast buffet were underdone, particularly the bacon.

We stayed here for two night and had a great time. Hotel was clean and had a great feel about the place. The bar was busy and staff where really friendly. Would recomend to anyone. Only problem we had was, we booked a double room and all we got was two beds pushed together. They could of made the two beds into one but just pushed two made single beds together. I guess they didn`t have the time to make it into one. We did mention this to reception straight away but didn`t get much help there. It wasn`t much of a problem apart from falling down the middle trying to get a cuddle off my good lady ha

We enjoyed our midweek break. Plenty to see and do.

We have been before and would definitely book up again the staff are always helpful and the food was was very nice

Great staff who look after you very well from the moment you check in to checking out (and even after that). Our first choice hotel when we stay in Edinburgh.

Nice hotel and brilliant staff BUT!!!! booked double room was more like single room with double bed squeezed in, only a shower no bath, room faced main street no double glazing very noisy night club across road so no sleep. In morning stood in queue for 15 mins until chefs restocked hot buffet, in meantime staff cleared our table in restaurant. No apologies when I informed the reception at checkout. THINK I WILL GIVE THE GEORGE A MISS IN FUTURE. LETS HOPE THE MANGER DOES SOME URGENT STAFF TRAINING

The breakfast set up was poor - guest had to queue for up to 20mins to get seated then a further 20 min queue to wait for food

Room cold during the day and at night, (some guests requested heaters)

Stayed at the George for my mothers 89th Birthday and we both had a fabulous time. Couldn`t fault the hotel. The rooms were lovely, the food was good and the staff were particularly courteous and very helpful. The location was within easy walking distance of Waverley Station. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Look forward to staying again at some point in the future.

Was a little disappointed with the size of the double room ,had bigger premier inn rooms!the water in the bathroom was Luke warm and the towel rail was not heated, even though the hotel said there was complementary tea and coffee was only given one teabag for each person even though we requested more. Thought the room would have been more plush for a four star but overall it was okay think I would consider some where else next time even though location was very good

Great location in Edinburgh; rooms clean and equipped well; staff friendly; only downside was late entry to room. Breakfast was excellent.

We had a lovely stay at the George for our wedding anniversary. Having booked the pamper your partner package we found it to be great value as breakfast was included and we received a room upgrade with strawberries dipped in chocolate and chocolate truffles in the room and a complimentary glass of champagne in the bar. The staff were very attentive and we couldn`t fault the customer service. The furnishings were of a high standard and the bar area was particularly inviting. Overall an excellent stay in a lovely hotel. We will be back again.

We purchased 1 night at the George from Hotels Direct.com and were very pleased with the price!

A very warm reception as soon as we entered the hotel. We enjoyed the specail touches with champagne and strawberries. Breakfast was excellent,all staff were friendly and helpful. Would have no hesitation in reccommending this hotel. We would certainly love to return sometime.

From the moment we entered the hotel and were greeted with a welcoming drink and courteous service at reception, we had a wonderful stay. The staff were excellent and the room, the breakfast and the setting were without fault. Enjoyed our short stay at Edinburgh, we will be returning hopefully at the end of May and also to do some christmas shopping in December. I wouldnt think of looking at an alternative hotel.

Didn`t use any facilites other than two bedrooms. One bedroom clearly had a no smoking sign on the door, but reeked of stale smoke and was very unpleasant. The beds though were very comfortable. Good discounted price paid. Would not have been happy paying more.

Great customer service and very pretty hotel decor but having to evacuate the building at 3:00 am for a false fire alarm keeps the review from being excellent.

Hotel room was lovely and staff were very attentive.

One or two details need sorted like draughty windows on top floor, no shelf in bathroom, no mirror in bedroom near hair dryer plug etc.Obviously designed by a man!

Could`nt find fault with an overnight stay.
