The Barcelona universal hotel is a lovely hotel central to everything 5 min walk from the ramblas & a short taxi ride to the olympic port. & the metro & bus stop is right outside. we found the staff very helpfull they gave us excellant pointers of how to travel to various places & the cheapest & easiest way to get there. the breakfast was good apart from the scrambled eggs were VERY SALTY. we will definatley be returning to this hotel.

As a group of 5 girls aged 21 this hotel was excellent.close enough for us to walk to las ramblas but an ideal situation as it is not located in the centre.we had two rooms a triple and a double both had plenty of room for all of us to get ready.excellent facilities with the solarium being our favourite for relaxing.lovelyViews and brilliant to have a bar located at the pool.staff were very friendly andhelpful. I would defiantly recommend this hotel!!

We loved staying at this hotel. Modern and very spacial rooms with excellent room service. The staff couldn;`t have been more welcoming and friendly. We would definately stay again as well located just a short walk from Las Ramblas and ideal for the metro system.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The room was very comfortable, clean and a nice size. I thought the staff were extremely polite, helpful and very charming. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Barcelona.

Room not cleaned until quite late in the day (after 4pm) and when I raised this with the receptionist, he wasn`t particularly sympathetic.

Right necxt to the Metro in a perfect position for exploring, on a main road so quite noisy but double glazing keeps most of the noise out, we stayed on the front of the hotel on floor 8, great views. The roof terrace is lovely, comfortable chairs and views to the front and rear of the whole city.Excellent value for money.

We checked in feeling harrassed after nearly being robbed on the metro! The staff were professional polite and the room spacious and clean with a fantastic view over the city. Would definately stay again...but get a taxi from the airport.

I stayed in this hotel with a group of friends for a weekend. The rooms were clean, neat and very nice. The hotel was located close to Las Ramblas and was a good base for exploring the city. The rooftop pool and solarium were great for chilling out. We really enjoyed our stay and would return.

Overall a very nice looking and clean hotel,reception staff very helpfull with my problems,the minimal breakfast would be a dissappointment if you wanted a full english, ..our childrens gifts went missing from the room,apparently put in the trash by mistake by a cleaner,dont let my problems put you off,i would go back,on a room only basis,and keep my gifts in the free of charge room safe

This hotel was lovely and it`s in a good location, only a 10 minute walk to La Ramblas. The swimming pool was very handy after a long day of sight seeing etc. The hotel was very clean and the staff were very helpful, I would definately stay here again.

Very clean, friendly hotel, good sized room with huge bed (may have been up graded)well situated, with comfortable walk to las Ramblas, beaches etc, with subway just outside.

We ate in your restaurant on our first night and found the food very poor and far too expensive. but apart from that the hotel was very good and the staff were very helpfull.

thought the hotel was really good, staff were very polite and the cleanliness of the hotel was excellent, the main road was a little busy and noisey at times, but otherwise really good, wouold highly recommend this hotel to a friend

A bit of a distance from town about 15 minutes walk to Ramblas, however next to metro for both line 3 and park train. Free internet access excellent base when visiting.

Wonderful location and friendly efficient staff would definitely stay again.

It would be better if they had a restaurant which didn`t charge exorbitant prices for a cold buffet and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Pity about guests leaving their towels over the sun loungers....

Most staff very helpful, however some exceptions - we encountered unhelpful attitude quite frequently when it became obvious that we were non Spanish (or Catalan) speaking tourists.Walls not well insulated - voices could easily be heard from adjacent rooms.

good hotel, good location (close to amenities but in a less busy area). our room was quiet but I wonder if the rooms facing the road would have been noisy.

The location is fairly central and the area is busy enough to feel fairly safe walking around at night. Rooms of average size for a 4* with a high standard of cleanliness. Good facilities including free internet access.

Rooms comfortable, some road noise at front, metro station immediately outside, walking distance to Las Ramblas area. Buffet breakfast good, evening meal average.

No major complains but, be aware they do have parking, but only limited space and they will charge you 22? per day, can be cheaper parking in one of the pay for parking down the street. Also if travelling with young children watch out as they may try to charge you 25? per day for a travel cot on top of what you have paid already. Also the restaurant only has one high chair, which during our stay of 4 nights was broken, when it was available it had a huge cigarette burn in the middle of the tray, not what I would class as 4 star.

Fantastic rooftop panoramic views of city. Good eating locally if you know where to go. Hotel good and staff generally very helpful. Would go again.

The hotel staff are really helpful and friendly, rooms were a good size bed comfortable and breackfast was also good, but the only down side to the hotel was the staff in the breakfast room, very moody and unwelcoming, but would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Very disappointed with the hotel, due to various factors. When looking at the pictures on the internet hotel looked a fair size but really was quite small,looked contemporary but iactually was quite bland, the room was very small, in fact ,smaller than our bedroom at home and found that there was nowhere where we could sit and relax with a drink, as the bar area was within the immediate reception area. The hotel was very clean however, the cleaners in the morning managed to wake us every day with the noise they made. The hotel was very well situated for public transport, but we felt this was the only benefit of the hotel. On our next visit will be looking for a better alternative

nice rooms nice hotel but you will not get much sleep,to much noise from the staff waking you up at five in the morning. good location for the ramblas and good for the metro to get around barcelona.

My only critism was breakfast could be improved. Choice was limited compared to similar hotels I have stayed in and hot food was not particularly hot.

Good location. Helpful staff. On a busy road so front rooms are a bit noisy. Nice selection at breakfast.

ample storage.The hotel is close to the metro line and therefore makes it easy for sight seeing.

Room and en suite comfortable and clean, satellite television only one English language channel, breakfast good, checkout at 5 am good with taxi ordered and wake up call made on time, splashpool, solarium and gym on roof terrace clean and pleasant.

Firstly let me say, I`ve stayed in quite a few hotels, from flee pits to £200 per night hotels. I`m not trying to sound like the globe trotting business man, just that I stay in hotels more than a couple of times a year when on holiday. I found the hotel to be efficient, well run, clean and comfortable. having said that I didn`t eat in the restaurant, apart from breakfast and I didn`t use the bar. Our room had a, a mini bar, telephone, digital safe, firm comfortable beds, a very nice bathroom with a really good shower and the furnishings were of good standard not tired looking at all. All the lifts worked, which is just as well because we were on the 8th floor. On the 10th floor is a small gym with about 6 exercise bikes and about 4 walking/ski exercise thingies. There is also a small pool and a small area to sit at tables or lie on a sun lounger. Breakfast was better than expected with some hot food, (scrambled eggs and bacon), as well as the more usual continental breakfast.
