Only problem - concierge wasn`t always at the desk
On arrival, we were given the smallest room ever seen...it is a good thing we did not bring the cat as there was not room to swing it! We were moved to a slightly larger room when we complained but considering the website stressed the multimillion pound refurbishment, I feel this has not reached the rooms. The bed was lumpy and noisy, the bathroom fittings were all loose and there was a general feel of shabbiness about it. The rooms shown on the website are obviously not the ones given to genuine guests who come to London for a special weekend for a treat!....a shame, it looked so promising!
The Hotel Russell is a pure delight to stay in. It feels special from the moment that you walk into the lobby and book in. Room was comfortable with everything that you need. Only issue was trying to control the room temperature but I got the hang of that eventually.Food was excellent and the staff were superb. I will happily stay in this hotel again
Choice of pillows would be beneficial to a better nights sleep
Although our room was on the 7th floor and fairly small, it was very well planned and laid out. It offered a small separate entrance leading off to the shower room before entering the bedroom. All the facilities you would expect were present and the whole area was very clean. The only negative was that the double bed was against a wall which meant my hubby (not me!) had to clamber up and down the bed when needing to get up in the night. We both felt this could easily have been rectified with a little better room layout. However we were overall very pleased with the stay and would go back again.
A great room, single but not at all cramped, lovely bathroom & good service.
hotel good. staff very helpful
LOVELY HOTEL IN CENTRAL LOCATION. VERY HELPFULL STAFF.
Excellent service,Excellent location
Staff were friendly but inefficient and didn`t seem to know much about surrounding area for bars/restaurants. Breakfast was good. Overall overpriced, certainly wouldn`t be rushing back and couldn`t honestly recommend.
The staff were so helpful and charming but to be charged for wifi is not justifiable and rather lets the hotel down.
Fantastic location, beautiful hotel with spacious twin room.we had wheelchair access room so enormous bathroom.Need more milk for tea though, and £3 for small bottle of water is ridiculous, even for London!
I had booked a night here for my girlfriends birthday and from the moment we arrived to when we left was great service. Every member of staff that we had contact with could not of helped us more if they tried. I upgraded to the junior bridal suite and it was worth it. The location is spot on. Walking distance to the theatre, Oxford street, Covent garden and so on. I have stayed in London so many times and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone having a special occasion.
Were disappointed with breakfast room - it felt like we were in a works canteen - which was totally not in keeping with the rest of the hotel. Shame! Especially at £19 per head. Although the food itself was fine the coffee wasn`t good at all.
despite you sending me an email on 30th July confirming my booking for a twin bedded room, when booking in I was told since I had booked the room there has been a computer error and they could only give me 2 single rooms or a doubled bedded room. We accepted the double room and complimentary breakfast, however disappointed as I have just had surgery and felt a twin room would be better for me and a single room could have caused problems if I felt ill in the night. However the room was clean and quiet
Everything you would want. Hotel staff excellent. Rooms more than adequate. Would book again.
Although room confirmed when we went to check in, they had already given our rooms away.Offered further nights stay at a different time, so can`t comment until we have been
excellent location, service oriented, beautiful reception, nice rooms
First time I stayed at the Hotel Russell. Got an upgrade to a nice room, however when we got back to the hotel at 10pm, the toilet broke so we were moved to another room which wasn`t as nice and smelt damp. It was ok as we weren`t in the room hardly at all, expensive hotel for the room we got.
The hotel itself was lovely and convenient. We had specifically booked a twin room but on arrival we were told that there were no twins available and that we would need to have a double. After informing them that due to recent surgery I couldn`t risk sharing a bed and getting knocked a twin room was miraculously found! Everything else about the hotel was lovely, room was clean and spacious. I would stay there again if I could be sure that I was going to get the room that I had booked.
Great Hotel , good location , only problem booked advanced room given standard room , this was rectified by the hotel staff . Given alternative room when advised hotel of the situation.
Helpful pre-book-in service, great room, great food, fabulous building, my new favourite Hotel in London
An enjoyable stay-just one critical comment, for goodness sake buy some decent pillows! I will be staying again however, I will ensure that I bring my own pillow.
Our room was comfortable, but the traffic noise, did prevent a good nights sleep.
Excellent situation. Excellent info from the concierge . Pleasant staff at check in and quick response from stsaff for more milk . Please inform of other special offers .
Really enjoyable stay at the Russell the staff could not have been more helpful. As it was our Anniversary we were upgraded our room was fantastic. Would definitely stay there again and would definitely recommend it. Great location within walking distance of Euston station and Covent Garden. Tube station almost next door. Had a really enjoyable stay
Fourth floor bedroom clean and comfortable, tea/coffee making a welcome facility. Some road/traffic noise, but we still slept well. Friendly and helpful staff, happy to look after our luggage on our last day and to take delivery of goods we purchased locally for us to collect on the evening. Good location for Piccadilly line, Covent Garden and the British Museum. Easy walk from Euston Station.
what can I say, we were so well looked after, the staff could not do enough for us and the hotel dynamics has improved 100% from last year. we have been staying at the Russell for the last 4 years and this year by far has been the best. many many thanks to everyone who made our stay so special. WE WILL DEFINATELY BE JOINING YOU AGAIN NEXT MAY!
