Hotel was fine as a base but not to spend any length if time in.The room was very small but the bed was comfy and the bathroom basic but clean.Breakfast very basic continental and weak tea!Not sure if it was the best value for money , paying mostly for the good location.

Only sight problem is contained in the instructions on how to get there. It tells you to turn left when leaving Metro exit at Cadet - if you do that you will walk away from the hotel as we did. You need to turn immediately right and walk up the hill (heading North) in the direction of Mon Matre and take the second right and you will find the hotel about 25yds ahead of you on the righthand side of the road.

Good hotel, in a great location. Staff could be a little more friendly but aside from one or two obtuse receptionists, and the lack of a kettle to make tea in the room, I was quite happy.

I was a little unsure of what to expect with 3 star hotels in Paris after reading allsorts of different reviews,but i can honestly say this hotel was very good,the staff were more than helpful,the hotel was very clean,shower was hot and powerful,the bed was more than comfortable, it was great.My partner and i took his mum and aunty for 3 nights and they were so pleased with the hotel and both said would stay there again.

Hotel was clean, comfortable with continental breakfast. Had twin room, which was cleaned daily, didn`t really need the air con, but would be needed if warmer. Bonus to have security safe. Staff pleasant & helpful. Receptionist provided map on check in, ideal. Hotel is 5 minute walk from Rue La Fayette & metro station Cadet (line 7), which made it ideal to get to everything, the journey to Versailles was extremely simple. A decent quality hotel, comfortable with no frills, definitely use it again.

I would happily stay again at this hotel. The situation of the hotel was perfect. It is on a quiet street off a Paris square. It is a very short walk to Cadet metro station on Line 7 which runs to the Louvre. Gare du Nord is a relatively easy 10 minute walk with light luggage. Montmartre is an interesting longer walk away. We had a sixth (top) floor room sleeping three and so benefited from an interesting view from the window, including the top of the Eiffel Tower, much to the delight of my young son. The rather tired ocean theme and decor was a little strange. The buffet continental breakfast was first-class. The staff spoke English and answered our questions and concerns efficiently. The TV even had BBC1! For the stated reception tarriffs, the hotel would be overpriced but with a discount through Hotel Direct it was good value for a 3* hotel.

We had a great stay at Hotel de L`Ocean. I was a little concerned before arrival given the negative comments on Trip Advisor, however my concern was unfounded. The hotel was in a fantastic spot for exploring Paris, situated on a quiet street, the room and facilities great, clean and comfortable, the staff helpful, breakfast very nice indeed. I will be recommending this hotel to friends and family.

Staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. The general atmosphere was quiet and relaxed.The rooms were lovely, and of a good size for the centre of Paris. L`Hôtel de l`Océan is an excellent hotel, well-situated for exploration of a great number of the sights and the sites of Paris! Je dis tout simplement: " Mille fois merci à tous de ma part et de celle de ma petite-fille". On était très contentes de notre choix d`hôtel, et on espère revenir chez vous à l.avenir!

this is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in, a triple room so small that the cot was pushed up against the window, no door lock and no one to repair it. food was very under-par, staff as little as there was, were not helpful at all. area was full of rubbish and building materials. it was that bad that we checked out a day earlier. would not recommend this hotel for a family.

We stayed here one night and being regular visitors to Paris ,over the last 37 years, we were extremely impressed with the standard of the room, and the service we recieved. We were breaking our journey from South of France to England, and the hotel happily stored our cases for several hours befor our return journey.

Close to Cadet metro and minutes walk from good restaurants. Very comfy bed and pillows and good standard of furnishings. Shame about the view- a wall! Adequate breakfast but no wine in the bar!

As we were unable to stay at the Hotel de L`Ocean due to technical problems, we are unable to comment. We were transferred to their sister hotel which was not in the area of Paris where we wished to stay. The Belmont Hotel was acceptable but the transfer by taxi was an experience as the taxi driver did not know the name of the hoel and expected us to pay for the trip. The situation was eventually resolved after an expensive phone call. Not a good start to our short break.

Basic city central hotel. Clean rooms and adequate breakfast. Hotel was too hot except in reception areas and AC not working. Staff were exceptionally helpful. Would recommend as a clean, centrally positioned hotel at an acceptable price.

Very friendly staff upon arrival, our problems was no hot water on Sat/Sun and the bar had hardly anything to offer.Rooms were very clean, fine for three star accommodation.

Good location. Quiet street despite the city centre situation. Rooms OK. Rack rate is expensive for what you get, but that`s Paris for you! Breakfast not bad, but a bit basic.

Very clean and healthy hotel with lovely pleasent staff who speak very good english. However the lift was broken on floor 6 which was our floor meaning we had to go up to floor 5 then walk.

great position for main sights, friendly staff, quiet side street location, we enjoyed our stay in the hotel de l`ocean . This was our first visit to paris and would use this hotel again. The only gripe if you wanted a view from the window is that the rooms at the back look onto a blank white painted wall

Room was small, but this was due to switching from a twin bed to a double bed. But the room had a better, brighter outlook. Good continental breakfats and staff very friendly and helpful. The lift needs to be repaired.

Hotel, clean and well decorated. Lift bit scarey it bounced. Breakfast the bare minumum. Room so small, really the smallest room ever been in but very designed. Nice to have double opening doors in bedroom even if have to close to get in showeroom! Have close to get into bed. Staff ok. Bit of a back street but some nice bars and resterants nearby. Close to tube. Bit of a walk to station futher than stated.

We found this hotel perfectly adequate for our needs and were pleasantly surprised by the facilities, given the rates charged. The staff were all extremely polite and helpful, speaking excellent English in reply to our faltering French. Our room was clean and bright with comfortable beds and freshly laundered sheets. There was an ensuite bathroom with towels being changed daily. From 07:00 - 11:00 hrs there was a continental breakfast - a little more basic than we would have wished but everything was nicely presented and the waitress was delightful. The hotel is situated in a convenient position, close to Cadet Metro station and near a good selection of brasseries. We found it very easy to get to all the main tourist attractions and felt safe walking about in this area. We would certainly consider staying at this hotel again should we be lucky enough to be able to visit Paris again.

Most rooms at back (the only ones which are double) face a blank wall. However we moved to the sixth floor where we had a very pleasant room which looked over rooftops. Only problems were poor sound on TV and a shaky unreliable lift, in need of servicing.

We have just returned from Paris (24 March 2008) and would definitely revisit the Hotel de L`Ocean. The staff were exceptionally courteous, helpful and friendly and the rooms and public areas of the hotel were bright, clean and well maintained. Rue Mayran is a quiet little cul de sac just yards away from Rue Lafayette and it is less than 5 minutes walk from Cadet Metro station. It is a pleasant walk from the hotel to Sacre Coeur and Galleries Lafayette/Opera house. Only improvement I would make is a little more variety at breakfast. Other than that, a super 3* hotel.

Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the location was a little way from the tourist areas but close to the Cadet Metro station. Breakfast was very good and the room cleaned daily however, there was insufficient wardrobe space which was really the only downside.

My daughter and I enjoyed staying here. The staff were very helpful with advice on where to eat and how to get around Paris. Rooms and bathrooms were very clean and what you would expect for the price paid.

We booked for New Year on the internet, we had a lovely stay, the staff were extremely helpful and our room was pleasant and clean.

Unfortunately when we arrived the room wasnt ready and had all the dirty glasses, bedding and towels from the last guests in the room. We did tell reception but when we got back four hours later it still hadnt been made up and we got moved to another room. The facilities are adequate enough and breakfast was fine... we werent too sure whether the guy on the front desk was alive... not the smilest of characters !!! watch out for the lift as well ... the door shuts whether you standing in its way or not , bumpy ride and it actually stopped working while we were there! you can store your luggage when you check out but no system of recording what you have so dont leave anything valuable behind ! reasonable location, right near rue la fayette... walk down to it and get a taxi rather than ordering one from the hotel, they charge you extra for a phone order

Friendly staff, comfortable double en suite room that was clean. Close to Gare du Nord. Would stay there again.
