The only downside which I would have with the North Star Hotel is that there is no lift from the reception area to the bedrooms especially when bringing in and out luggage. The food was excellent and the bedrooms very comfortable and excellently serviced each day.

"comfortable room , nice staff."

The hotel is was in a good location for us as the ferry port was only 10/15 minutes drive away also located to walk to o`connell street only 10/15 minutes walk away. We would go back to the hotel.

"Lovely hotel"

Lovely hotel, only problem is the trains! Our room was overlooking the train line and even with the window closed it kept us awake and woke us very early in the morning. But overall we enjoyed our stay.

"General Overall State"

We were booked in to room 355 on Saturday 6July. The reception staff extolled the virtues of a recent makeover. We were out into a smoking room which affected both my wife and myself. The water hot water pressure was almost non existent and the toilet leaked. I could never recommend this hotel in its present state.

"Nice room, pity about the shower and the carpet"

My wife and I were upgraded to the premier suite in the hotel, the room was very nice but when we went to have a shower, the handle fell off. I got it `fixed` and we did shower. The carpet was worn near the door. We ate in the new restaurant, my wife had the chicken...v.g. I had the small steak, it was eatable but tastles, I wouldn`t have it again. We often stay in the North Star, we find it very handy and the breakfast is terrific.

Hotel clean and tidy. Staff are helpful. Rooms are basic. Main disappointing point is no free wi-fi unless you book directly with the hotel.

"Thank Goodness it was only for one night!!"

We arrived at the hotel, to find first of all the pokiest wee car park, in which we were charge 8Euros for and we had to leave our keys with the guy in the carpark. The hotel was extremely drab and depressing. I would not have stayed only for the fact I had already paid for it. I had to pay to be upgraded to a room that I was happier to stay in. Didn`t leave hotel as it seem to be in a rough area. The one thing going for this hotel was that the food was nice, but I wont be back to stay in it.

"friendly, clean and welcoming!!"

We all stayed at the North Star for a long weekend, family of 4. The room was clean, adequate and comfortable, plentiful and very hot water (very important to me). The staff were freindly and pleasant, the concierge, and older Irish chappie, was an absolute star!! the breakfast was plentiful, hot, a fantastic choice, no complaints whatsoever even though I missed my porridge!. The coffee STRONG !! :-) For the price we paid, we were very pleased overall. Some of the decor was a little shabby, but nothing that bothered me. Ok, the area isn`t the finest in Dublin, but then it is just a short walk to O`Connell Street and the Temple Bar area. Outside, there are plenty of supermarkets selling fresh coffee, a subway and other eateries , brilliant if you are on a budget. We would go back!

"the hotel is central well known and it staff are best asset + the best breakfast in town"

i have been staying at this hotel on and off for the last 30 years i have seen may changes over that time and i have had a love hate relationship with it. however in recent years the new management have have understood the type of clientel that have used the hotel over it,s long history. The accommadation is fit for the 21st century but the facade of the hotel reflects old fashioned style of courtresy/ service and attention to their guests needs. i conclusion i will continue to use this establishment for the froseeable future and i wish all of it,s good fortune.

"Excellent hotel with friendly staff with comfortable room and beds."

Arrived at the hotel slightly before my check time to be greeted by friendly car parking staff who parked it safely for the night at a cost of 7euro which in today`s climate is very reasonable, there is an additional cost of 2 euro for every hour before check in and every hour after check out. The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly with a very slick check in procedure, the room was spacious with a single bed as well although we did`nt need it,everything was fine with all you would expect in the room.Breakfast was a pleasure well cooked and loads of choice again everything and more you would ever need, an absolute pleasure and the staff were really helpful and friendly. All in all we really enjoyed our stay at the North star and will definitely be back,I would strongly recommend this hotel for any traveller.

"Clean room, beds and bathroom. Good breakfasts. Spoilt by noise"

Good value for level of service, size of room and housekeeping. Didn`t tell me that room was above bar with late night music at weekend. maybe that`s why I got double room rather than a single. Staff always helpful. I would stay again as long as not above bar (rooms 101 - 109)

"Feedback from South Africa"

Justr some feedback on our stay at the North Star Hotel. The 1st night we arrived we stayed in what i assume is the older the part of the Hotel which was on the railway line and just above the Bar, so it was a bit noisy howvere the rooms were more than adeqaute. On our return we requested a quiter a room inn the new section and that was superb. Thanks for having us and i hope to return some time!!

Good hotel, with exceptional breakfast and very enjoyable overall. A little noisy at times especially when the DART is in operation and the bed in the room we had was "rather tired". Overall a good stay.
