"Staying at this hotel made the holiday perfect."

Everyone at this hotel was there to help and nothing was too much trouble. The recommendations from the reception staff were excellent., even down to booking for us. The Octagon bar was amazing, fantastic atmosphere. Be prepared to be very hungry at breakfast time, as you are offered a massive range of beautifully prepared food, all served with a friendly smile.

"Fantastic service, lovely room and will return"

We had a lovely time in Dublin which was made very special by the hotel staff. Although dinner in the hotel (with wine) turned out to be quite expensive it was a special occassion and so it didn`t matter. I would reccommend this to everyone but it`s not cheap!

"Space - the sort of hotel, you want to stay in. Rooms airy and beds fab!"

The style, service and ambience were excellent. Tea rooms restaurant food to die for - but not too `fussy` staff. Areally enjoyable, central place to stay in style.

"Fantastic!"

Having our 10 year old daughter with us we were actually upgraded to the Garden Suite! Normally it`s Jordan, Naomi Campbell and Bishop Desmond Tutu staying there - now us! Staff were top drawer and NOTHING was too much trouble! A brilliant stay and MANY thanks to Hotel Direct!

"Centrally located, Excellent Service without being intrusive, Very Friendly staff. "

I cannot fault anything about my stay at the Clarence. The hotel is very centrally located which meant we could get to all the places we wanted to visit easily. The staff are extremely friendly and provided excellent service without being overly intrusive. Whatever we requested was not an issue. I would definately recommend this hotel and will certainly stay there in future visits to Dublin. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so enjoyable.

"Overall a very good hotel, however is maybe in need of an upgrade and attention to detail. "

Stayed for two nights dinner B & B. The Tea room is without doubt one of the best food experiences. Very highly recommended. However our bedroom overlooked the street to the rear. Noise from new nightclub at rear was unbelivable. Staff did offer new room and gave us champagne however make sure your room is not at the rear. Overall very good hotel but just beginning to need upgarding.

"staff fantastic and breakfast amazing"

If we were going to be really picky the only slight moans would be that there was no control over heat in the room and they were very warm. If in a basic superior room the view is awful. Bathroom needed some work doing on it. Overall our stay was lovely mainly due to the staff throughout who couldn`t do enough for you and the brilliant breakfast selection which is all served rather than buffet.

"Some Problems"

Whilst our stay at The Clarence was enjoyable we did encounter some problems. 1/ The first room allocated to us us was very small, hot and no view after we complained we were given a much better room 2/ On the second day with you nobody came near the room ,either to clean it ,make the beds or leave fresh towels ,also the tray we had tea on was left overnight and all of the next day 3/ We found the staff extremely helpful especially in the restaurant Regards Alan Lang

"My stay in the Clarence I was not happy with at all infact very disapointed."

When arriving at the clarence hotel the staff were really friendly and welcoming. Then when we got to our room it was not very good. The view was onto an air-conditioning unit and kitchen area. The bathroom was very bad the toilet seat was not on properly the hook on the back of the door holding the bath robe up was on the floor, and the bath was stained dirty. In the bedroom itself there was an extracter which was full of dust right over the bed, This was a very important occasion for me and my girlfriend. That night we went to the Octangen Bar for a couple of drinks, we witnessed a bar member grab a dirty glass from the bar and mix somebody else`s cocktail in it this was very unexspected. We went down for breakfast and that was superb great staff and the food was excellent. Overall for a well known 5 star hotel i was not happy with my trip to the Clarence. Sorry to say.

"Ah be jesus, Bono and the Edge will be proud!"

Had an amazing 2 night stay in the Clarence, the room was lovely very sheek and stylish. Drinks in the Octagon bar are a little bit pricey but more than worth it, my personal favourite was ` a night at the Clarence`. The staff in this hotel could not have done more to make my stay here wonderful, it`s a must for any one who wants to feel that little bit special even if it`s just for a couple of days! The Clarence..... even better than the real thing.

"Perfect!"

we were upgraded to a one bedroom suite with a balcony overlooking the city. our six month old son was catered for very well - we were provided with steriliser, monitors, bottle warmer and baby bath and a cuddly toy as part of the turn down service. The service was exellent in both the restuarant and reception.

Everything about this hotel is 5 star(restaurant would probably merit 6 stars) except our room.Facilities are excellent but the room was stiflingly hot ,.in ahotel of this calibre one would at least expect air conditioning to aid a decents nights sleep. staff are a lovely bunch.

"Great service!"

We had a great time, the service was exceptional, breakfast was of a high standard, the room was clean and comfortable. We sat in the bar and not only did we see Bono, The Edge and Adam Clayton but Bill Clinton was there too as he was staying in the Penthouse. What good timing to stay!!

hotel very clean and tidy, room v warm and noisy tv/computer equipment kept us awake all night! - otherwise just a few problems with service eg room service forgot to bring a few items up on several on a few occasions, breakfast on Saturday morning started at 7.30am rather than 7am as on prev days during our stay and we weren`t informed about this which could have meant we missed our flight - also reception tried to charge us again for accommodation even though this was prepaid at booking & also forgot to book a cab for us on the morning we left (but another member of staff managed to flag one down for us).

Our room was lovely and the staff were great. I was slightly disappointed with the bathroom which was very small and in need of a makeover but on the whole it was a great place to stay. The breakfast in the tearoom was amazing and the staff could not have been more helpful.

I have stayed in many Dublin Hotels of varying reported standards. I can say without doubt that the Clarence has the most helpful and attentive of staff that I have so far experienced. Nothing was too much trouble for the boys on reception and they were cheery in all aspects of their work. Similarly the waiting staff in both the Tea Rooms and Octogon Bar were excellent. My one criticism is that given the Star rating and the 350 Euro per night price tag for a Superior Room, I can say that I have experienced much better rooms in far less rated hotels. The room was basic in design and ordinary in its ammenieties. Still overall I enjoed my stay but would shop around rather that go striaght back to the Clarence.

"hotel room poor BUT STAFF EXCELLENT"

for the amount I paid for the room I was very disappointed we had no view at all ,well saying that anyone who has stayed there in the same room`s will know the sound of the generator going all night and looking at a metal wall did nothing to improve thing`s ,we had no coffee or tea making facilities and when I asked about them was told we could order room service 24hrs that`s all well and good but I had saved like mad just for the cheapest room for our 17th wedding anniversary thinking it would be something special but it was a total let down but the staff were wonderful and very polite but friendly ,that was The Clarence`s only saving grace

"Warm welcome.......even warmer rooms!"

I have to say the staff and the setting of the Clarence was great, the only problem is that it felt like you were walking into a furnace when you entered our room, the radiator was not on, the weather not sunny so why was our room so warm? They must have know how warm the room is as it had a dreadful fan in the room.....not something I would expect for the price paid! I would definatly return, however that will only be in the winter months, I shall use the Morrison in future for the Spring, Summer and Autumn!!!!!

"extreemly overpriced and definately not 5 star"

the room at the clarence was extreemly disappointing, no air conditioning , i would describe it as a box room and when a hairdryer and iron was used it was like a sauna. i would expect better from a B&B and i would definately not advise anyone to stay there

I would highly recommend this hotel. The location is fantastic, the rooms were amazing our view was terrible which was a shame but you can pay extra for a front view I believe, when we go again I will def upgrade to a front view. Overall extremley happy with our stay.

"Very dissapointing to somebody that frequents Dublin and a daughter with a PHD in the industry."

Specified my complaints to Front Office as i departed so i hope they relayed my concerns. Certainly would not recommend the Clarrence to anybody and actually heard tourists on a bus tour commenting how grubbiy it looks.!!!!! Which is quiet true. Our next trip in July will certainly will not be in the Clarence.
