This is an excellent hotel in a very central location. The room is well furnished and of a very good clean standard.
Great location, modern hotel, excellent facilities. All the staff we came into contact with were fantastic. A true Irish welcome and friendly. They couldnt do enough to make our stay one to remember. Even went so far as to ensure my daughter had her porridge ready at 06.00 prior to running the Dublin Marathon on monday 25th! Have stayed in other hotels in Dublin, but will definately be returning to the Academy Plaza and will recommend to family and friends Theresa, Julia, Laura, Nicola,
my daughter was running th dublin marathon and was staying at the gresham hotel.our room was far superior to hers.very nice modern hotel.we enjoyed the meal we had in st harrys.
See above. The third room I was offered was fine. I`ve had this problem before and always request a quiet room when I check-in. (They do appear to have a list of the rooms with this problem of noise over the fans/shafts) yet, despite my previous complaint I was allocated not one but two of these noisy rooms.
The night before we were due to fly to Dublin we received a call from the hotel to stay that another party had requested more rooms so we had to move to another hotel. Although they added breakfast for all of our party on all three days it was not a case of do you mind, it was a case of you are going. The hotel we stayed at was very nice and we had no complaints but I still think that it was not the best way to run a hotel, why did they not ask the other party to stay at the other hotel when they were booking into a full hotel. We will still use hotel.com but hope this is not the norm.
we were very well looked after the hotel was very clean . and staff very helpfull location was spot on .
Had a great stay in a really friendly, clean and comfortable hotel!! Couldn`t have asked for better! Staff really friendly and the food was excellent! There is no carpark but there is one across road which u get 40% off if u get ur ticket stamped at hotel! Rooms were lovely and very clean! Free wifi as well which was great. Staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Will definately stay here again!
my room overlooked the bar out the back and I did not get to sleep until 3 am due to the noise, otherwise the room was a bit small but overall a lovely friendly hotel
The hotel is very clean and the staff are pleasant and really helpfull. The proximaty of the hotel to the town centre is ideal.
Staff very friendly, parking opposite a member of staff came out with us to check our 4x4 would get into carpark . Bar staff friendly, rooms very clean. Will be back
On arrival the receptionist couldn`t find one of our rooms, apparently booked to someone else. Had to wait half an hour before it could be sorted. Asked for quiet rooms, not bad but a lot of noise with emptying bins in the morning. Overall very enjoyable stay. Very clean hotel and courteous staff. Would stay at hotel again.
despite being advertised as "newly refurbished" the room had a few things which needed repairing - only small things but noticable nevertheless.
This is an excellent hotel and in a perfect location for the centre. The staff were friendly and helpful, and most importantly the hotel was spotless.
stayed at the hotel for a fri to mon break 27th Aug `10 Bus from airport stops at the end of the street so easy to find, return bus leaves on opposite side of street. Check in straightforward, room v clean and comfortable. Staff very helpful when we had trouble with safe deposit box in room, sorted it immediately, also provided us with more coffee, milk and sugar for room when we asked (and biscuits!). Situated next to a very busy bar but no noise either in downstairs of hotel or our room. Situated off upper O Connell street, plenty of bars but not far to walk to Temple Bar or other restaurants and bars. Taxi rank also situated on upper part of street which was useful as we went out of town on the Sat night. Would highly recommend!
One small addition might help: a water dispenser
Lovely Hotel. Fantastic Location. Room was spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable. Also had free wi-fi throughout hotel and two apple computers in reception with free internet access. Did not use restaurants or breakfast facilities. Would recommend.
Stayed at the Academy Plaza for a weekend in August 2010. It is very central and in an excellent location just off O`Connell Street. On Friday night the room we stayed in was on the third floor and above the taxi rank which was very noisy. We requested a change of room on Saturday and the staff were very helpful in enabling this to happen. All the facilities were clean and well cared for and despite having to change rooms the rest of the weekend was lovely.
Great location, nice room (although very small), chinese restaurant left a lot to be desired
Excellent accomodation, friendly and efficient staff, first class breakfast and restaurant facilitiies. The hotel is ideally placed just of O`Connell Street with immediate access to `hop on hop off` Dublin Tour bus and the major tourist attractions
Good hotel would use again. Only gripes breakfast room on the small side to cater for the number of rooms + one of receptionists a bit offhand and unhelpful.
Information could be left upon how to use the heating/air conditioning system within the hotel room as this was very confusing and we did not understand how to use. Other than this it was an excellent stay.
Staff were very helpful, and cheerful. Rooms very clean. Food was very good value, especially the buffet. Breakfast was okay, need to change the sausages to better quality ones though. The Breakfast room was perhaps a lttle small for the amount people packed in at the height of service. We would recommed the Academy Plaza to anyone and will be back ourselves some time in the future. Thanks for a lovely stay.
The room was very small but well equipped. It was immaculately clean and the bedding was beautifully fresh and sooooo cosy. We were on the second floor and there was some noise from the pub/club at the back of the hotel but it was not too much of a problem however I would suggest ear plugs. Requests for more tea and milk were immediately dealt with and delivered to the room. The hotel was a two minute walk from the bus stop on O`Connell Street to and from the airport and a ten minute walk to Temple Bar. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend the Academy Plaza to friends and Family.
Can`t fault the hotel for the price. Good, clean rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Will be booking again for the next visit.
Re above shutting window helped and accepted we were in a busy city so did not report my problem. Our stay (we had 4 rooms in the party)was very good right in the city where we wanted to be. Staff were very helpful.
Hotel clean but we had to ask for towels as none in one of our rooms. Room 145 was quite noisy at night and on first nite there was a problem with the bathroom fan (stayed on all night & was very noisy!). Went for breakfast at 9.30 ( finishes at 10am) and hardly anything left. Very disappointing
We had booked a short stay in dublin and the hotel location was great. The staff were really freindly and chatty. The room was furnished and decorated to a high standard and well equipped. Would definitely stay again and would recommend it to anyone staying around the city centre.
The hotel has a problem with the quadrangle at the back which attracts large numbers of `celebrating` residents and holidaymakers. The noise continues into the early hours! The double glazing needs to be more efective. The other issue would be the smell that lingers into the foyer from the `in-house` Chinese restaurant. A pity about this as the hotel is very conveniently placed for central Dublin and offers many facilities.
2 armchairs in bedroom would have been welcome as would a fridge.Bedroom was small . a nice bathroom.
Good central hotel with friendly helpful staff. Rooms clean & tidy with in free in room saftey deposit box. Would stay here again.
