"Still the best hotel in Dublin"

Just returned from a stay at the Gresham hotel on o`connell street in Dublin. This was our 4th time there. Once again this hotel has it all, charm and great service and it`s right in the heart of the city ideal for shopping and all the bars and restaurants. The Staff are always happy to help and the hotel even has free wifi to boot. We be returning there next year for sure.

"The Hotel was most impressive."

There were simple lackness of taking instruction for delivery of newspaper, and allocation of room key for three day booking to two days of entitlement.

"disappointed at the standard of the rooms"

The initial first impression of the hotel was WOW.... until we got to our room. To be honest, we have stayed in better rooms at budget hotels. Apart from having a robe to wear after a shower.... there was nothing really special about the rooms. So if i was ever going to pay for a special night or weekend away, i would not be going to the Gresham. The service was second to none, with the consierge and the staff being friendly and helpful. but again, apart from the consierge, every hotel we have ever stayed in, the staff have been as friendly and as helpful. Well, i can now say i have stayed in the Gresham....... but thats as much as i would say. I definately wouldnt recommend it to any of my friends or family.

"Re-assuringly good"

I am a worldwide business traveller from Shanghai to Sao Paulo. I am on a short easter break with my family here in Dublin. The Gresham enjoys a central location, rooms are clean and not cluttered with PR material, staff are helpful and polite when you need them.

"very poor value for money - a hotel which has had its day and living off an old reputation"

staff very uninterested in guests, information about the hotel required considerable effort, expenesive for quality of rooms and hotel, really needs a good sort out - only friendly people were cleaners and the porters - have stayed in much better places in Dublin than the Gresham such a pity for a hotel with a fascinating history and former grandeur. Would recommend people search around - much better quality around for the money they charge

"very loud vibrating music until 2am which, we were not advised of this event "

Overall, our experience of the hotel was excellent the staff were very nice the food was good and the facilities were clean. However, it was a shame about the music and the way the situation was handled by the night manager first he said we would not hear it on the third floor then when he came up to our room he said it was not the hotels music and offered us to move room at 1am, later he did apologise and say he did not realise the music and the vibration would be as bad on our floor. The next morning the manager gave us a voucher which to be honest we probably will not be able to use.

"Cold, noisy and completely clueless"

Arrival - cold in foyer and check-in slow. Desppite arriving at 10, was nearly 2pm before we could get a room. Room ok, but not even a glass to drink from. Sink broken and shower without handle. Both showers were awful as we had to hold the handle in and try to shower - a joke. Compounding the problem, 6.30 Saturday morning loud drilling above the bedroom. Who needs an early morning alarm call? Asked for a refund. Never stay here again.

"Not our Best stay in the Gresham !!"

We frequently use the Gresham, this time we had a few problems. The room was cold the heating was not working, the window was not closing properly causing a large draft and allowing outside noise in, which was particularly bad as we were at the front of the building. We did not want to make too big a fuss and mangement did supply a portable heater and extra covers for the bed. On reflection we should of asked for another room, we did not sleep well !!

"clean but cold"

Room very clean but asked for quite room, put next to lifts. However, the noise stoped after midnight. The main problem was the radiator did not work and the room was freezing. A portable heater was brought to the room very quickly. Hotel centraly located only 10mins from Temple bar. The breakfast were tasty, with plenty of choose. I would stay there again but to be honest I have stayed in just as nice 3 star accomidation at a lot less cost. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

"CENTRAL LOCATION FOR BARS SHOPPING AND SIGHTSEEING"

the breakfast are good and the down stairs lobby and bar areas are impressive however the rooms are dated and badly need refurbishing. the matteress was lumpy and although I turned it myself there was little improvement. The tea and coffee was replaced each day but toiletries weren`t. Staff were friendly and helpful and the bus from the Airport stops outside thre hotel. as does the Tourist bus. We had a taxi from the airport for 35 euro but the bus for the return trip was included in the Tourist sightseeing bus tIcket, so we used that =20min ride. The tourist bus ticket is also valid for 2 days for 19 euro

"Clean, spacious, excellent location and friendly staff"

We stayed in a twin room on the 26th February. The room itself was spacious and clean and there was the added bonus of an ice machine located in a room on our floor. The staff were courteous and helpful and there was a nice atmosphere from the moment we walked through the door. There was one downside however- a really foul smell iminating from the kitchen or somewhere. It was quite overpowering and filled the whole lobby area. Not sure if this is just due to the restuarant being located on the ground floor but it wasnt pleasant at all.

"FIRST CLASS"

Had a wonderful stay at the Gresham Hotel. As our room was ready we did not need to wait until 3pm for check-in which was really good. Also given a complimentary upgrade which was much appreciated. Breakfast was also excellent. Would certainly recommend this hotel.

"Cold and Unfriendly"

My room was very cold with the thermostat not working. A heater was provided per my request but didn`t really fully heat the room. As I was staying over new year I returned to my room around 2am and was `greeted` by a rude night porter who let me in. He was very unpleasant. I would not stay at the Gresham again and I would not recommend it. A hotel trades on it`s service more than anything and there was a lack of the usual Irish hospitality all round.

This is an OK hotel for 1 night. Nothing special about it & nothing has changed about it in the past 10 years. There are alot nicer 4* hotels in Dublin for alot less money. I wont rush back. Sorry!!
